First, I want to thank everyone for your confidence in me to lead this historic organization. Over the next year, I look forward to the opportunity to meet and work with each of you and your chapters.

Many members love their local chapters and the benefits provided to their community. Did you know that as a member of a local chapter, you are automatically a member of the United States Junior Chamber and Junior Chamber International? That makes you a part of an international group which has members in every corner of the world! That also makes you part of a family: Your Jaycee family.

In 1938, USJC named its first Ten Outstanding Young Men, since changed to Outstanding Young Americans. With your help, I would like to begin the program in West Virginia. For 2013, I would like to honor 5 Outstanding Young West Virginians. Nominations may be submitted to the state office via regular or email. A nomination form will be created shortly and added to the website and Facebook page. This is a wonderful way to honor someone in your area who gives back to their community, state, or country. I will need your help with this project in many ways. It will require sponsorships from companies/areas including gifts, the banquet cost, and money for the awards. Together we can make this a reality, recognize those who deserve it, and show a positive side of our beautiful state.

This is one small idea which came from the 2013 State Presidents Retreat at Camp Discovery, Tennessee. While there we heard about the many exciting changes planned for the coming year. 2013 National President Chrystal Ramsay wants to make the organization better, stronger, and bring those advantages to individual members. Some benefits include world class training through conferences and webinars and the opportunity to network with other young leaders from across the country. There are even discounts just for being a Jaycee! Like President Chrystal, I want each of you to enjoy the opportunities available simply by being a Jaycee.

Please know that during the coming year I am here for you, regardless of your need. I will help you, advise you, or simply listen to you. My role is to serve our members and enable you to do the work you love. In 2013, I want to see your chapters grow, but also want to see your communities grow. Strong members help build strong communities. West Virginia needs the Jaycees now more than ever.

Once again, I want to thank you for the opportunity to serve you as President. With your help, we can make the state bigger, stronger, and one of the leaders in the nation. All you need to do is believe in yourself and your fellow Jaycees. We have a strong past of 73 years to build upon and an even stronger future ahead. So honor the past, but embrace the future.
