The Weirton Jaycees were re-organized in 2004. Since our re-organization we have participated in numerous events. We have raised funds for the American Cancer Society, Easter Seals and the United Way. When tragedy struck our area in 2004, the Weirton Jaycees was the first civic organization to step up and organize a cleaning supply drive. We not only collected the supplies, but delivered them to the local flood victims. Every September we hold a back to school supply drive and donate the collected items to area schools.
We annually provide a free dinner and dance for area senior citizens, and a free pool party for the area youth. We paticipate in the Weirton 4th of July and Christmas parades. We sponsor a duck pond at the Weirton Renaissance Festival, as well as free pumpkin painting at the United Way Happy Halloween Festival. We are also a major sponsor and organizer of the Weirton Harvest Festival. Lastly, we support our local Salvation Army by bell ringing, stuffing stockings at Christmas and sponsoring and teaching one of the days of their Vacation Bible School. Our member recruitment fun days/nights have included bowling, picnics, concerts, camping trips, Kennywood Park, hockey games and dinner and movie nights just to name a few.
We offer opportunities for individual growth that have included seminars on everything from budgeting your money, internet safety, snow removal to Zumba exercise programs. The Weirton Jaycees meet at 6:30 on the third Monday of each month, normally at Hancock County Savings Bank in the community room. Children are welcome to attend our meetings and projects. If you are interested in learning more about the Weirton Jaycees or any of our projects, contact any of the board members listed on this site or at the address below. Weirton Jaycees
